Cloves are one of the spices that originated in Asian countries like Indonesia, India, Pakistan, and even areas of East Africa. It was first grown in the islands of Maluku, Indonesia. They are a famous flavoring agent used in various ways across the world. It is also a culinary base of a variety of traditional cuisines particularly in India. Clove, just like many other spices indigenous to Asia, was traded during the 13th and 14th centuries from India to Europe and Middle East. The Clove plant is a herb which grows in tropical and subtropical conditions. it grows up to more than 8 meters high from height of about 5 meters. The tree has a smooth bark with grayish yellow aromatic leaves. It grows in a slow pace, but an average healthy tree can exceed 100 years of age easily. For thousands of years in India the clove's dried bud, stems, and leaves are used for various medical purposes and health benefits, especially in Ayurvedic medicine for tooth decay, and bad breath. Cloves have anti-microbial properties aiding in digestion, protecting the liver,  fighting against cancer, boosting the immune system, controlling diabetes and preserving bone quality.
